I headed out this afternoon to hit a couple local spots and see what
was biting. My second cast yielded a 17" Largemouth, that absolutely
smashed my olive and white 2/0 clouser. Oddly enough he had some
fishing line wrapped around his body which looked as if it had been on
him a while. The fish looked fat and healthy, so I cut the line off
and let him go. The action never really picked up after the one big
boy so I left after another 20 minutes of fishing.
I then went over to prospect some retentions ponds in Alexandria that
I had spotted last week. The water was churned up a bit so I decided
to save it for another day.
My last stop was Four Mile Run. All I got was sunnies and crappie on a
#12 cone head woolly bugger, and one follow from another huge LM, that
chased a size 2 clouser in chart/white. Some nice size LM were
crushing critters on top water but I only had my rubber boots on and
couldn't get a cast to them. Spent about 45 minutes at 4mr before I
called it quits for the day.
