I've attended the past two years and it's a lot of fun. I haven't done the fishing rodeo, and won't again this year because another obligation will keep me in Arlington Friday night, but the picnic, camping, and raffle make for a good time. And it's great to meet and hang out with hard working people like Jeff Kelbe who are advocating for clean water in our watershed.
See you on the 'doah!

Subject: Re: {Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} SHENANDOAH RIVER RODEO COMING UP - SATURDAY JULY 14!!!!!
--All:Dan was kind enough to forward the link for the Shenandoah River Rodeo. I want all to know this is a great event. Guides donate a day float and fisherman sign up to compete in the rodeo. The 250 fee per fisherman includes the float, all festivities, camping fees, bbq, bands and banter galore. Our group camps Friday night, we rise to compete in the rodeo on Saturday, We drift with some of the finest guides in the region, we throw flies, other guys/gals spin. We all love it. we returm to camp, eat, drink, win a raffle prize or not. We trade stories and make new fishing friends. Sunday we eat a great camp breakfast, drink strong coffee and reluctantly leave the adventure.Smallies are the primary target, large mouth cost you penalty points (I proudly take the penalty), redeye bass deliver bonus points! You will meet great guides, fish, eat, drink with them. You will fish with great fisherman and learn a trick or two, they too will learn, that is what makes them great, and that is what makes fishing magical; there is always more to learn. To some it is a man's weekend, others bring wives or dates, familes are there. All are welcome and it all makes for a great weekend! Best of all it supports the Shenandoah and Potomac riverkeepers, great people doing great work!if you can't swing the rodeo come for the festivities. Feel free to sidebar with me if you want details.See you on the "doah"Charlie
Sent from my iPadTo all TPFRers,I just got off the phone with TPFR member Charlie Gloeckner who reminded me of an excellent upcoming event, the SHENANDOAH RIVER RODEO! Since the ENTIRE SHENANDOAH RIVER SYSTEM empties into the Potomac at Harper's Ferry, it should go without saying that what happens there, happens here. I would like to encourage ALL TPFR members that can make it to and support this great event to please do so. Music, food, BEER, fishing, and conservation should make it and easy choice. Please mark your calendars now and plan to attend, and to those with the means please consider supporting their efforts. I am going to let Charlie chime in and let you know all of the details. Charlie, thanks again for bringing this to the attention of the club!Dan Davala--
