Re: {Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} Tenkara in the region

I have used my tenkara rod with great success at the headwaters of Paint Branch in Montgomery county, md. Lots of hungry top-eating fish and little pressure throughout the stream.

The westernmost spring branch of paint branch above the ICC holds trout. Seen em but never hooked one. A delicate ecosystem, thought it's probably best to look but not cast.

Holmes run is hard: you have to fish in the brief window between the stocking truck and the net-wielding poachers to have a good shot. Caught one good sized rainbow under the bridge one May as the water warmed -- was in really rough shape. Assume he/she was a holdover from the prior fall, I'd be surprised if he/she lived many more days if hours after I released, based on rising stream temp and health.
