Sorta like the whole vegan/carnivore thing. I'm not ashamed to eat a bloody steak. I do cringe just a little when I eat Veal picata, tho.

Bryan -- tongue-in-cheek, I totally agree with you and douse myself (and Beth) in DEET regularly. I meant no negativity/insensitivity toward that end. I just really, really enjoy making fun of the (mostly) self-hating fly fishermen at any opportunity.--I enjoyed this article depicting hipsters using tenkara gear as if the techinque is something "new" or "more natural/simplistic/jedi".That may be true, but just remember Tenkara folks! Given the brutal slaughter of fish associated with tenkara history, you have to sort of look sad with each fish you catch while using tenkara and mutter something like "oh me" to make it okay.To celebrate tenkara, I think I'll ride my bicycle without a seat the rest of the week!Gene

Didn't tenkara start as a means of more effectively stripping as many fish as possible out of beautiful mountain streams (i.e. commercial fishing)? I don't want to be associated with meat fishing -- I'm an artist!I also refuse to use deet and long-sleeved clothing. I'd rather just let mosquitoes bite me. Pulling ticks off of your underwear line is natural!Gene

Thanks all for the reply. I've gone back to Holmes once and again caught some small bluegills much to my daughter's delight. Also checked out Accotink creek off Little River Turnpike in Annandale but was not lucky there. Not a single hit. I was impressed by how pretty the area is. Will try to visit again next weekend.
Lastly spent half a day on Jeremy's run in SNP last Sunday. Gorgeous day caught some several small brookies while learning to cast in the tight canopy and overhead brush. No pictures sadly.
