Are you strictly limited to key west or are you open to the entire keys? I have spent a lot of time wade fishing down in the keys, and there are really no spots that I have found close to key west. There are a number of places you can wade fish in other areas. None of them are great, but you may catch fish. Unless you get extremely lucky, you won't get bonefish or permit but I have caught plenty of snapper, barracuda, pompano, lookdowns, ect.
