Sure Matt -- It's a personal choice and lot of folks feel that way. I personally feel that spawning fish are quite easy to avoid, staying out of the water is good practice ALL year if it can be avoided, and choose not to 'close my own season'. Note that we fish in the SNP more than all other places combined, possibly as much as some retired people. We love the park streams and really feel like we 'know' many of our favorite places, and neither of us harvest any fish.
-- It's really rewarding to fish some of the same stretches of water weekend after weekend, throughout most of the year. You really learn a lot and see so much wildlife, and get really 'in touch' with the stream. With the occasional rattlesnake, and morels, and BWOs landing on your shirt, there's never a dull trip.
