{Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} Re: Vise recommendations

I started tying when I was 10 or 11 with just a simple clamp vise, and now that I've taken it back up nearly two decades later I'm still happy with it.  Must have cost 20 dollars.

I don't know your son at all obviously, so I'm going to generalize on all 10 year old boys (apologies!) and say one factor to consider is the likelihood he sticks with it.  Maybe he keeps it up and next year he gets another christmas present of an upgrade.  Or maybe it doesn't take and you've saved yourself from buying an expensive vice... unless of course this means you get an upgrade :) .  Point being, start him off on something simple, and if you have extra cash in your wallet get him a bunch of fun materials.
