{Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} Vise recommendations

I'd like to get my 10 yo son a vise for the holidays. There seem to be two types of controls for the clamping end: the lever kind like the regal vises used at the beer ties and tunrstyle like on a renzetti.I'd welcome some insight on what people think is better and recommendations (Orvis or otherwise) for a good beginner vise. Thanks!
