Check the packaging and make sure you didn't buy "crosscut" rabbit strips. These are intentionally cut�perpendicular�to the direction the hair grows, and they are cut this way for wrapping around the shank of the hook for bodies. Either way, you can probably still use them however you want, they won't look perfect but probably not much different underwater.
