Re: {Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} Air Brush system

There's an article in the current Federation of Fly Fishers magazine about the Copics, and it looks like an interesting tool. Is the consistency more like an ink,or a paint? Does it soak into feathers like dye?
 
I have an old Testors airbrush (for model airplanes) that I use with water-based acrylics to paint poppers. It works pretty well, but the paint would not work on feathers or other materials -- it would stiffen them up. If the Copic can be used to custom-dye maribou and saddle hack while preserving the action of the feather, that would be pretty helpful.
