Position: Test Analyst
Location: LA, CA
Duration: 6 to 12 months
Immediate start

SUMMARY: This position is responsible for ensuring that the business applications are tested before implementation. Incumbents will be responsible for developing test artifacts and documentation, and assisting users during the UAT phase of the project for Nuveen Investments' proprietary and vended applications. The incumbent will be active in contributing to the fulfillment of Nuveen Investments' Mission: to secure the long-term goals of our clients and the advisors who serve them, by demonstrating the following responsibilities and duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following duties are generally representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all inclusive.
TESTING ACTIVITIES
• Develop and document sound testing strategies across a diverse application stack and disparate technologies.
• Tests software releases during product release.
• Writes or assists in the development of test plans and test procedures.
• Completes assigned test-related tasks.
• Reports test results and logs defects as necessary.
• Function as a member of a project team to facilitate testing.
• Monitors and updates defect reports as needed including defect closure.
• Understand test goals and dependencies to ensure risks are effectively tested.
• Facilitates the UAT phase of the test cycle.
• Assists in review of test processes as they are developed.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: There are no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university
• Post graduate work, such as financial certification, or master's degree a plus
• 5+ years of solid experience as a Test Analyst
• Investment management industry experience preferred
TECHNICAL:
• Superior Excel and Sharepoint skills
• Knowledge of current systems and technology practices
• Databases: Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, Sybase, SQL (both platforms)
• Strong understanding data structures and content required
• Financial application experience a plus (Charles River, SimCorp Dimension, FactSet)
• MS Test and/or MS Visual Studio Test Professional 2010
• Visual Studio TFS
