I've rented boats (very reasonable) at the Fountainhead state park several times. They are open early and close late relative to Burke Lake. Bluegill fishing is always good, and I'm getting a better handle on the bass. It has good cover, lots of structure, and is always wind protected somewhere. Its aslo not very crowded most times...

Has anyone fished the Occoquan Reservoir from a kayak with any success? It looks like you could put-in at Fountainhead Park or Bull Run Marina. The website for Bull Run Marina is a little cryptic about gaining access to use the ramp. It sounds like you need to get an annual pass and gate key.--
