Thanks for the tip.  I was able to easily find the parking area you mentioned.  The water was almost HOT there.  I stayed pretty close to the waterfall since I only had a few hours before we caught the Avengers at Star Theater.  The only thing I managed to catch was this redbreast sunfish on a wooly bugger.  It put up quite a fight though!  I'm definitely going to go back there  and probably wet wade instead.  It was way too hot for waders.  

I also probably could have started fishing before 4PM, but I was glad to be out.

The cacapon and patomac are both easily wade friendly there.  A great place to start is to park at the great cacapon parking ramp off route 9. Its about four miles north of berkeley springs.   When your heading north away from town the access road is on your left about 200 yards before crossing the cacapon.  There is a small waterfall right by the parking area and usually provides good smallmouth action.  If you head east about 100 yards down is a railroad bridge that has a large log jamb and is also a good spot. Immediately past it is the mouth and the patomac and is a good spot for smallies walleye and catfish. I've never waded north from that point but there are good spots when heading south.  If you cross the river make sure to have a walking stick because there are some deep holes over 10 feet.  Head south away from the mouth and you can cross in a much safer spot. You will know it by the rocks that go most of the way across. It is slippery due to the algae growth so watch your footing. 

If you venture south into virginia on 522 there is houge creek which is small but another good spot.  Check out the virginia wildlife website for access and parking instructions.  It runs thru a private farm that has an agreement with them to grant access in exchange for stocking rainbows during trout season.  Its a little to get to the parking area.  Good luck

Any tips are appreciated.
