{Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} Re: Best Waterproof Camera

I have had a couple of the Olympus cameras and right now I'm on the Tough 8000.  It is rugged, and it's a beast.  I have a lanyard for mine as well.  My complaint is that it starts up VERY slowly.  I took it to a camera shop and they we able to reduce the startup time by about half, so now it's only at about 5 seconds.  I usually just leave it in powersave mode, and that way the startup time is cut to a few seconds.  It take great pictures for me but then again, I'm not really a great photographer.  I also have the GoPro Hero 1080p.  I've used that extensively for scuba, white water rafting (lost one in the Gauley River), etc.  They are pretty crazy.  I'm kind of hoping to lose this one too somehow so I can get the Hero 2.

On an interesting note, take some pictures of you wearing your GoPro, and if you happen to lose it, email their customer service.  I was able to get 50% off my replacement.  You will also need your receipt.

Hope that helps.  I'm very curious about the TG-820 though.  Will have to check into that (and others) more.
