All,

I just returned from a trip to Belize which I enjoyed. We caught a ton of bonefish. A few folks on the trip caught tarpon or permit, but no one achieved the Gran Slam. (Although a gentlemen in the previous group at El Pescador did get the GS the day we arrived.)

A few pictures are attached. Few notes from the trip:

-- We stayed at El Pescador, on Ambergris Cay. The first couple pictures show the ocean from the small plane we took from Belize City to San Pedro, near Ambergris Cay.

-- The guides really knew their way around the Cay and surrounding islands. If we wanted to search for tarpon, they found 'em.

-- We caught plenty of bonefish. In general, they were more plentiful, but smaller, than the ones in the Bahamas -- one to three pounds. But they still put up a solid fight.

-- Several tarpon were hooked by people in the group, but only 2-3 landed.

-- Few permit were hooked, and only two were landed. Yours truly did not hook or land a tarpon or permit. I need to massively improve my casting skills before going after them again.

Of course, I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Best,
Russell Smith
