This position requires highly motivated and experienced individual executing projects in Business Information Modeling. The Business Information Modeler is responsible for transforming business information into models (most often logical data models) and managing the enterprise data model. The emphasis on this position is the "modeling of the business" that is required for a successful data warehouse. This goes beyond the role of a typical application level "data modeler" in that it requires modeling from an "enterprise perspective" rather than from a single business perspective. The Business Information Modeler is proficient in industry standard techniques for process modeling and data modeling. Within data modeling, the Business Information Modeler must be proficient in 3rd normal form relational modeling. Dimensional modeling experience would be a strong added value for online analytical processing. This role must be experienced in group facilitation with participants from diverse business functions and work skills. The Business Information Modeler may be the Lead Consultant on a project.

 

Key Responsibilities: 

 

The successful candidate will be involved in doing the following and may also lead a team in executing such.  The incumbent will:

 

•        Leverage his background, consultative skills and intense client-value focus to develop unique modeling solutions.

•        Prepare process models in accordance with the guidelines/conventions of designated process modeling methodology, includes creation and maintenance of process descriptions and glossary of terms.

•        Facilitate the exposure of process data from functional experts and the user community.

•        Provide mapping between existing process and proposed replacement processes.

•        Design and normalize the logical data model to third normal form.

•        Facilitate the discovery of entities, attributes, relationships, and business rules from the functional experts and the user community.

•        Prepare fully refined data models in accordance with the guidelines/conventions of the IDEF or equivalent methodology.

•        Develop and manage data models and associated metadata for the enterprise.

•        Maintain and publish project business rules and the associated enterprise data dictionary.

 

Skills & Attributes:

 

•        In depth knowledge of business processes and business information models.

•        In depth knowledge of modeling methodologies and techniques.

•        In depth knowledge of the ERwin data modeling tool.

•        In depth knowledge of facilitation and conflict resolution processes.


 

Basic Qualifications:

 

•        Bachelors Degree, preferably in Business Administration   

•        5 + years of Business Information (Logical) Modeling

•        5 + years experience in advanced information and data modeling skills

•        Demonstrated ability to model from an enterprise perspective

•        Industry knowledge in retail, hospitality, travel, transportation and logistics

•        Must be able to travel up to 90% within the US

-           Ability to perform data source analysis and to create or support source to target mappings and transformation rules.

Preferred Qualifications:

•        Proven experience with enterprise wide logical models such as Teradata Industry Logical Data Models

•        Dimensional Modeling experience.

-           Experience taking the Logical Data Model to a "first cut" Physical Data Model including demoralizations where required. Selection of optimum data types and lengths.

-           Experience with Agile Development methods

-           Experience w/ multiple modeling tools including Embarcadero ER/Studio and Power Designer

-           Experience transforming Business Intelligence requirements into semantic layer models

2) Teradata DBA

The Database Administrator (DBA) requires specific technical knowledge about the administration and control of the data warehouse environment, including the Teradata database, operating systems and tools. The DBA will provide services to administer, maintain, and control the data warehouse including the database, operating systems, and tools. The Database Administrator may be involved in Teradata System's tuning as well as application tuning. The Database Administrator may be the Lead Consultant on a project.

 

 Key Responsibilities: 

 

•           Administration, maintenance and control of database optimization, capacity, security, configuration, scheduling, errors, and execution of maintenance utilities 

•           Administration, maintenance, and control of the operating system, network, and tools.

•           Managing data and referential integrity of the database

•           Mentor and interact with other team members and the client for the dissemination of information about the database and system administration

•           Periodic backups of the database and operating system

•           Plan for and support hardware/software installation and upgrades

•           Coordinate and assist in the implementation of data replication and distribution

 

Skills & Attributes:

 

•           In depth knowledge of operations management and control of the Teradata database

•           In depth knowledge of data warehousing

•           In depth knowledge of Teradata tools

•           In depth knowledge of Teradata utilities

•           In depth knowledge of security tools

•           In depth knowledge of Teradata system management

 

Basic Qualifications:

 

•           Bachelors Degree, preferably in Information Technology or Computer Science   

•           12+ years of Teradata and Data Warehouse experience required

•           Industry knowledge in finance, and/or insurance, and/or healthcare

•           Experience in implementing physical model on relational databases

•           In depth knowledge of SQL to analyze databases

•           Strong consulting "soft skills"

•           Must travel up to 100% within the US (Monday thru Friday)

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

•           Proven experience as a Teradata Technical Lead

•           Experience with Oracle and DB2

•           Experience in conversion of Oracle and/or DB2 to Teradata

•           Experience with TASM

•           Experience with TPUMP

•           Physical data model optimization
