Re: {Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} single malt and fly fishing

Excellent calls there Brian.  Caol Ila 12 was the first Islay malt I tried, and at first, I just didn't get it.  Then I tried Laphroaig and the whole Islay thing made sense to me all of a sudden, and I could recognize the Caol Ila for what it is - a beautiful variation on the theme.  That Quarter Cask is a stand out for me.

Whoa whoa whoa. Let's get this straight here boys and girls. Caol Ila 12 will be the first and last single malt you will ever want or need to drink. If you want a good value, Laphroaig 1/4 cask. If anyone wants to try some really out-there single malts, hit me up. I have a few.

Guinness alternatives:
Belhaven Scottish Ale
Kilkenny Irish Cream Ale

Both are on nitrogen like guinness so you get that rich creamy head. Both are available in the widget cans, but if you find the Kilkenny, let me know. It's rare.

If you were close to NJ, which I imagine you are not, finding these wouldn't be a problem.  A number of them are even available in county liquor stores here in Montgomery County, MD where the County has the booze distribution monopoly.
