I needed a little rejuvenation this morning, so took by kayak out to Burke Lake for a 3 hours. Great sunrise, and no wind at all. Caught 20+ crappies at the east end of the dam, big shallow bay there. 5wt mostly with floating line and a couple of shiny shad flies. One was at least 2lbs, maybe 3, dwarfed the others. No bass (surprising), couple of bluegills and a very small perch. Water quality was really clear. No sign of any bass in other spots, threw a heavier and bigger fly on a sinking line, but no go. Fishing only entrance south of main entrance is a great place with a small ramp, and you can flyfish the dam easily without a boat, though you need to watch for runners/walkers.
