I was lucky enough to spend this past weekend fishing the North Platte River in southern Wyoming with my older brother and two of his friends. On Saturday we floated the river with two guides (Andy and AnnDee) from Cowboy Drifters. I highly recommend them. Both guides were knowledgeable, professional and fun. They put us onto a lot of fish (15-20 per person - most being in the 15" range, with one being 26") and really worked hard to do it. We spent Saturday night in a cabin that they provide. The cabin was right on the water, very clean and comfortable. It had 2 bedrooms, one full bath, a full kitchen and living room with a TV and DVD player.
In terms of the fishing, we mostly fished 5/6 weight rods with a combination of egg, worm and leech patterns with most success on the eggs. For a while, a couple of us tried big articulated streamers on a 8 weight, but had no success.
On Sunday, we went off on our own and waded Fremont Canyon at the suggestion of our guides. We landed about 10 fish among us, most 16+" with one pushing 25".
A few photos are attached.
