{Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} Re: Mossy creek

I haven't read much more than you have most likely, and if you've fished for trout out west you absolutely have more experience than me.  I did make it out to Mossy (public) this last summer and I pretty much found what others have - the fishing is tough, but it's kind of a cool stream and there are definitely big trout in there.  One really nice one rose to one of Beth's huge streamers once, but didn't come up a second time ;).  We both caught a few of the smaller, dumber stockie browns on a woolly bugger (estaz) and a couple of little foam ant/beetle things.

Just do a search for "mossy" in the search box above and you'll get some good advice from other folks on here.  Good luck to you!  I like trout, but I'm more of a warm water fisherman at heart.  Fast-flowing water confuses me ;).

Hello all
I was wondering if the public stretch of mossy creek and beaver creak are worth trying. The research that I did on both turned up good but it was on private waters where only guides can get you there. I also understand beaver creek is by pass only at the local country store. I wish I could afford a guide to show me the ropes around hear but financed leave to a do it yourself type. Since I am new to Virginia and started fly fishing in colorado I am partial to trout fishing. Is it worth me taking the 2.5 hour drive to go to the public sections? Your input would greatly be appreciated.
Thanks
Mike
