Re: {Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} single malt and fly fishing

Man, I feel like I'm not living high-on-the-hog now!  I have no idea what single malt is.

My treat is mixing a scoop of regular coffee in with the decaf in the morning!  ;)

Scott, I agree with you on the Powers, but it can be hard to find.  Do you have a consistent source?

Rob, that is one fine list.  Excellent choices all.

Excellent topic! Two of my favorite come from Ireland: Powers and Middleton, though they're nearly on opposite ends of the price spectrum.

From this side of the pond, my go-to is Bulleit - both their bourbon and their rye. For something local, try Catoctin Creek's Roundstone Rye.

For special occasions, I'll break out the Whistle Pig Rye - pricey, but fantastic!

As for a Guinness alternative, try Old Rasputin Russian Imperial Stout - it's rich and delicious.

Its not quite a single malt. But does anyone have any suggestions for a Guinness like beverage? Just trying to mix it up a smidge.
