Great thing about the USGS gage is it also shows the water temperature. If water is coming over the top of the dam, which sometimes happens after large floods like what we experienced today, the water temp can spike into the upper 70's. With that said if there's that much water it is going to be too high and muddy to fish anyway. But it's always a good idea to look at the water temp before going. I wish more gages were that useful.
