{Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} Re: orvis 7'6" or radian 753-4

I like a fast action 3 wt in the 7'6" size for brookie fishing. I find the fast action helps with bow and arrow casts. I've done bow and arrow casts with a bamboo rod before (very slow action) and it was concerning because on the rebound, the rod tip would be in danger of hitting the ground/log/boulder I was casting over.

I'm sure both of those rods would be great. Can't speak to the difference between them, though.

Hoping for some good info on possible rod choices for the following:

I'm looking for a graphite 7'6" 3wt for those close brookie streams that will softly land a dry fly and also swing a small streamer or nymph.  The orvis recon 7'6" 3wt looks like a good candidate and its a good price, and the Scott Radian 753-4 also looks great but is considerably more expensive. I am going to test cast both tomorrow.  any thoughts are appreciated on whether another $300.00 will make that much difference in small stream fishing or if the recon is really good for this application.
Look forward to hearing what folks think,
Lisa
