I'll be traveling to Hawaii to present at a conference, and being a poor grad student cannot afford a guide for a day...so I am crowdsourcing. I would really like to just catch some fish in the surf, not necessarily targeting bonefish, so I was wondering if any of you have experience fishing in Oahu. Preferably, walking/bus ride distance from Waikiki (the main tourist area)....any advice on locations and flies to use would be greatly appreciated. I will be stopping by Nervous Waters in Honolulu to get some flies, but would like to tie some up ahead of time.
