{Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} Re: Route 15 Fishing Opportunities

I wouldn't mess with the outlet.  While they do stock it, it is primarily a smallmouth fishery which are out of season.  Like you said, the trout are put and take.

There isn't much of a resident fishery in most of those tribs.  Juevenile rainbows before they drop down to the lake, but nothing worth targetting.  I don't know what flows are like now, but there used to always be lake run rainbows in there this time of year.  They are a bit smaller on average than the spring run fish, but still nice fish.

Naples Creek is on the list.  I spoke with folks at the sutton spoon shop last week and they said some were reporting some small/medium browns moving up the creek still, but they don't have as much intel as usual due to the low water conditions in summer.  I am packing my 3 weight, hoping to target some of the smaller residential fish, but who knows what I might find.  I scouted the creek in August and it was bone dry about a mile in....really bad drought this year.

They also stock the Canandaigua outlet, but that is more for kids.  Speaking of pickeral, I was able to pull two off the point in October which was fun.  We have a cottage on Tichenor point which has a great drop off!

My Dad's parents had a cottage on Waneta (at the base of keuka).  I only used spin gear and bait casters back then, but saw and hooked into some massive muskie.  Great muskey lake!

Hi all,  I have been driving to upstate NY my whole life and have always driven past creeks called fishing creek, trout run etc.... but have never stopped as I am typically with a car of others who would not take kindly to a stop.  This christmas however, I will be driving up alone and could stop and fish anywhere along the way.  I will be driving along Route 15, and It seems like most streams that hold fish would be north of Williamsport.  As I know some of yall make the trek north frequently, would any of you be able to recommend a stream that would be easy to hit with a short walk?  Not sure if there is anything right off 15, but here's to hoping!

Thanks in advance!!

Gregg
