I would take some closers for sure. I just finished tying some.

Hey folks- I will be on a family vacation the first week of August on the Eastern Short near Claiborne. I plan on bringing my 8wt and a spinning combo just to see if I can tangle with any stripers or bluefish from the kayak that comes with the rental house. Does anyone have any suggestions for what kind of flies or baits to pack? I'm thinking my best chance at any success is we happen to be in area where there is some surface feeding early and late in the day.--
