Yambag hit the high points. Since it has been a hot summer, I'll add two warm water options to consider: 1) The Saranac chain of lakes has plenty of places to fish for bass ; and 2) Richard Garfield (Fly fish the Adirondacks) took me small mouth fishing on the Raquette outside of Tupper lake a few years ago during a summer like this one. It wasn't a unique fishing trip, but it was a lot of fun and not one of the usual Adirondack angling destinations.
