{Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} Re: SNP 4-5-14 (wildlife + fish pics)

Gene,

It looks like you and Beth had a good couple of days. My friend Damon and I headed out to SNP yesterday and fished from about 10am-2pm.  The water was just high enough to make spotting and going one-on-one with big fish difficult, so we cast to the likely areas and found fish. On three occasions I was so confused that I didn't get a strike that I said to Damon "where's the fish?'', only to have a brookie slam the fly a second and a half later. The water is up and still cold. The best brookie fishing is still to come. We took fish on caddis, prince nymphs, stimulators, and humpy's. But, the most and largest fish were taken on size 16 klinkhammers. Not sure I lost 5lbs, but I can feel that terrain in my legs and lower back still.

Here is a picture of Damon wearing his Brookie camo.

I did turnover a few larger mayfly nymphs  -- but mostly tiny ones.

The black ratsnake getting some sun was very cool.  I was complaining about having not seen any snakes yet this spring, so he was a welcome sight.  Beautiful specimen!

Best weekend of fishing we've had in a long time -- we might have set the bar high for the rest of the year.  I think I lost 5 pounds -- this is by far the most physical fishing I've ever done.
