The carp were feeding on the tiny plants that grow on the surface (duckweed?). The plants clump up around debris (trees branches in the water, terrestrial plants leaning into the water) and the carp nose up to the clump to eat. I was using a tenkara rod and just placed the fly in front of the feeder.

Saw tons of carp at lock 7. Most were small and in the 3-4lb range but I did see a coupe really large ones.I tried a couple different flies and methods and couldn't interest any of them. First tried a very small red crayfish pattern. Moved on to a San Juan worm. When that failed I tried an indicator with an Eggy Juan Kenobi with some weight. Nothing was interested other than tiny sunfish.
I saw lots of them feeding on top. I could see their lips as they rose on what looked like some green tree pollen that was littering the surface.
Any ideas for what they were feeding on or what I could of done differently?
Thanks
