{Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} Re: Fly Fishing Experience/Lesson in the DC Area

Another suggestion, while not being in DC but down in Lexington, is John Roberts. My first introduction to fly fishing was with him. Spent an entire day and went from pond casting to being on a stream hooking rainbows and browns. Great teacher and I became pretty decent with my cast (which degraded promptly when I left the country for a year and couldnt practice). Worth the drive. www.vatrout.com.

Ive also spent time with Rob. Learned a lot about what is available locally.

Orvis also teamed up with the Unicorn Winery in Amissville VA (out by Warrenton) They cover all the same material in Flyfishing 101 and 201  but with more depth.  Lunch is provided as is some wine tasting.  The winery has a pond with lots of pan fish and some pretty aggressive bass.

I haven't been actively fly fishing for 4-5 years now, but would like to start getting a line in the water more often. I have finally convinced my significant other that it might be a fun activity to do together. The problem is, I am pretty rusty on technique and she is completely new to the game, so I think it might be best to jump start ourselves with a little excursion/guided trip that will get us on fish and get her really excited to keep going. I don't necessarily want to commit to a whole weekend getaway, so it would be nice if it was within driving distance of D.C.

Does anyone have any good recommendations for this type of thing?
