Sorry for the delay--your email somehow got drowned in my inbox and I just found it. Dan put me in touch with a guy he knows at VDGIF who's been very helpful and open to having volunteers like you and I when there's space available. I'm hoping to also go out with some DC and MDR guys a few times in the next couple months. Shoot me a direct email and I'll pass it along.

Hey coop, any chance you can share some information about how one might go about volunteering for shock duty? Are they always looking for help? I'm not in the industry, but I'd love the chance to spend a day with some fishery experts helping out.

Sent from my iPhoneThat's a bit too close to a snakehead mouth for me. Any chance y'all opened it up to see its gut contents?Electro shock boat was one of the coolest thing I've done.
Sent from my iPhoneI was fortunate enough to catch my first snakehead earlier this week...but I cheated a little and used electricity. I volunteered with VDGIF at Aquia Harbour and ended up pulling out about 30 snakeheads and 50 largemouth. The snakehead in the picture below is about 8 lbs--the largest of the day was 14 and change. There are some big largemouth down there, too. I can't believe people are fortunate enough to do this for their job on a regular basis! To post to this group, send email to tidal-potoma...@googlegroups.com.On a side note, I'm trying to bulk up my resume with some fisheries related experience for some summer jobs/internships. I'll be in the area for a couple months, and if anyone has any ideas or opportunities that might be relevant, I'd love to hear about them.Cheers,--
