Re: {Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} Fly Fishing Experience/Lesson in the DC Area

Orvis actually has a free fly fishing 101 and 201 class. That's actually what I had my girlfriend do to get her started. It isn't completely on-the-water (only 201 is on the water), but I highly recommend it. If you prefer right on the water immediately, look up Rob Snowhite. He's a full-time fly fishing guide in the DC area (and very active on the boards here). He's great both from a guiding perspective and from an education perspective. I have been fly fishing for about 15 years and still picked up plenty of pointers from him when we went out.

I haven't been actively fly fishing for 4-5 years now, but would like to start getting a line in the water more often. I have finally convinced my significant other that it might be a fun activity to do together. The problem is, I am pretty rusty on technique and she is completely new to the game, so I think it might be best to jump start ourselves with a little excursion/guided trip that will get us on fish and get her really excited to keep going. I don't necessarily want to commit to a whole weekend getaway, so it would be nice if it was within driving distance of D.C.

Does anyone have any good recommendations for this type of thing?
