Being a novice fly fisherman and new yak owner, I would definitely be interested in a group outing.
Wednesday I bought a 10' LL Bean Manatee and spent a couple of days outfitting for fly fishing. It's very comfortable and stable. A 12 footer would track better but for my purposes she's fine.
Saturday I paddled around Lake Accotink for a few hours.
I went to Burke Lake yesterday and had a blast. I was on the water for about 4.5 hours. The wind was light and the sun was shining. 54 degrees. Perfect! Caught a couple of sunfish.
I launched from the vdifg ramp. When I came back in a fellow was unloading his canoe and fky fishing gear. He introduced himself as Matthew Longley. We chatted for a while.
I wished him luck. Matt launched. I left.
Great day!

Sent from my iPhone--I'd be up for the Tidal Basin. Just need a few days advance notice to work out the scheduling.By the way, I think it's important to stress that these group sessions are NOT TPFR-sponsored, -related, or -endorsed, but rather independent groups of like-minded people getting together of their own volition. That should relieve TPFR of liability, which I think was a concern in the past when people were organizing non-official activities through this forum.Cheers,-- GregFrom: "R...@robsnowhite.com" <r...@robsnowhite.com>

How about a tidal basin meet up.
Sent from my iPhoneThis sounds like a great idea.Went out to Burke Lake this weekend, mostly just to take the new canoe out for a test drive. Based on a previous thread here, the fishing entrance is open 24-7. Might be a good place to meet up after work some day and fish for a few hours, since we won't get kicked out after dark. Between my canoe, your kayaks, and the rigs of other folks on here, we could have a full flotilla.--

Was wondering if there there are members that work in the DC and surrounding area that would like to hook up for some after work fishing somewhere not far from DC after work once every couple weeks or a month and then hang out for a beer or two someplace handy?
We have Beer Fly Ties......Why not a Beer & Angling Lies get together now and then..??
Novice fly tier that no one knows yet...
I'm also interested in fishing in south central PA weekend mornings early or late evenings as I am often there (Fairfield, PA) on weekends Spring thru Fall. Own too many fly rods and have 2 fully equipped kayaks that I can carry on my SUV.
I'll be at the festival this coming weekend starting Friday afternoon late.
