Just to follow up,  we spent last week in southern Argentina  at Las Buitreras Lodge fishing for sea runs. We had seven anglers in our group and fished a morning and late evening session with a couple of hour break in the afternoon.

Everyone caught sea runs between 10-17 pounds and fished almost exclusively with 7 or 8 weight two-handed rods about 13', Lines were  scandi and a few skagit  with intermediate poly leaders. Flies were a mixture of girdle bugs, black streamers, and large copper johns.

Conditions were overcast, pretty chilly and very windy the first three days and then the it switch and became warm and the winds dropped. Water temps fell and climbed pretty dramatically during the week. Besides the larger sea runs we also caught a lot of browns between 14-22".

The lodge itself is very nice, the guides are terrific and the meals and wine were outstanding.

If you are thinking of heading down this way and would like more information about the gear and fishing don't hesitate to get in touch.  I would highly recommend Las Buitreras Lodge.
