I'm told the shad are hitting hard up in Deer Creek north of Havre de Grace, MD

"Scott B." <scottb89@vt.edu>: Apr 29 04:02AM -0700 Short video of fishing from a few weeks back. Nothing fancy, a lot of poor casting, but was my first time out playing with the GoPro. Battery died before I got on the fallfish. https://vimeo.com/126334462 On Monday, April 27, 2015 at 9:49:12 PM UTC-4, Ryan D wrote: |
TurbineBlade <doublebclan@gmail.com>: Apr 29 04:09AM -0700 Fun Scott -- I do a lot of small-warm-stream fishing. You generally get the place to yourself and *I* sure think it's fun. Gene On Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at 7:02:38 AM UTC-4, Scott B. wrote: |

Derek Douglas <derek.j.douglas13@gmail.com>: Apr 28 01:56PM -0700 I'm almost at use or lose for vacation time at work...anytime someone wants to splash a few yaks, I'm more than willing to meet you out. I have an extra for someone to use as well. |
alexjmccracken@gmail.com: Apr 28 11:15AM -0700 Hi, Wanted to take my new 8wt out today and was wondering if Scott's run and turkey run are too high to fish. Thanks for any info Alex |
TurbineBlade <doublebclan@gmail.com>: Apr 28 12:25PM -0700 I honestly can't remember what the point of rocks gauge needs to be to wade without risking death. Wading the Potomac is a young man's game as far as I'm concerned at this point -- I use boats or just wade the tributaries. The same applies to winter kayaking, or basically any situation that requires you to use a wet suit, kevlar vest or more than 10 feet of duct tape. Since wading is also illegal on the Potomac, you could go with a spey rod. One of those will roll cast a standard pipe wrench out into the current with the same delicacy as a person throwing a standard pipe wrench as hard as possible into the same river....giving rise to the popular spey casting phrase "let's go slam pipes!". Richard Farino <richard@urbanangler.com>: Apr 28 03:30PM -0400 As a general rule, we tell folks that when the USGS gauge at Little Falls hits 3 feet, the entire Potomac is low enough to wade most places safely and is clear enough to see obstructions and holes. We won¹t get there anytime soon. R Richard Farino Urban Angler VA <http://www.urbanangler.com/> | 108 N. Joe Mathews <joseph.t.mathews@gmail.com>: Apr 28 09:27AM -0700 Thanks for sharing! I hadn't seen it. But Nick and Kami Swingle are TPFR members and frequent this board, so perhaps they will chime in. Nick and I were members of our college fly fishing club, I can assure you that Kami is his best catch ever. I suspect he would admit this. Steven Butler <butlersd2011@gmail.com>: Apr 28 06:38AM -0700 I found the best areas to be a fair bit upstream of the softball fields as you come into Wakefield Park off Braddock. If you walk behind them you'll hit a bike path to follow to some good areas. On Monday, April 27, 2015 at 4:39:55 PM UTC-4, Brian Dillon wrote: |

Marek Rich <mrich@ScheerPartners.com>: Apr 28 02:19PM That's not a good day, that's a great day on the Gunpowder! Well done…. From: tidal-potomac-fly-rodders@googlegroups.com [mailto:tidal-potomac-fly-rodders@googlegroups.com] On Behalf Of Andy Thomas Sent: Monday, April 27, 2015 11:24 AM To: tidal-potomac-fly-rodders@googlegroups.com Subject: {Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} The Gunpowder I made the trek from DC up to the Gunpowder on Saturday. It was well worth it. I had a banner day catching 42 brown trout. Before you ask, yes, I actually removed the hook by hand from 42, and missed a few more. They all weren't large, but they still had a mouth! I did catch some nice ones though. -- http://www.tpfr.org --- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders" group.
