Trent Jones and I fished the James on Tuesday with our guide and friend Matt Miles, and we got just the toothy grin we've been looking for! This was our second time fishing with Matt, and it definitely won't be the last. The first time out back in October produced 14 follows and one big eat, but no stick. This time on the rematch, we only saw two fish, got one eat, and stuck it!
I'm truly humbled by the odds, the challenge, and the sheer number of variables involved in targeting Musky on the fly. All an angler can do is be in the right place with the right people and have the right fly in the water at the right time. Any given day it can happen, and any given day you can work your butt off only to see nothing for the effort. Either way, you'll keep coming back for more.
HUGE THANK YOU to Matt Miles for putting me on my first Musky ever! That I got to share the whole thing with one of my best friends as well made it all the more special.
Already looking forward to the next one!
