I was recently fishing in MA over the holidays (had a great day of winter fishing with some 13-17 inch rainbows, probably my only good day of winter fishing ever....) and the felt sole on my wading boots partially came off. The boots are hodgemens, they're a good 4-5 years old, probably see about 15-20 days a year on the water. I don't really want to spend $100 +/- on new boots (financially it's just not in the cards right now) so I'm wondering if anyone has had experience fixing their felt sole boots.
I've been thinking shoe goo or gorilla glue might work but I want the repair to be durable (i.e. last at least another year), be non toxic in water, easy to apply, and safe on the water ( i want the felt to still be able to do it's job so wrapping it in duct tape kinda defeats the purpose). Many of the other blogs online suggest some similar approaches but I wanted to see if anyone had any personal experience with this and can offer any advice.
Thanks,
David
