Did you get this taken care of?

A picture would help.   If you are going to have to replace the reel seat anyway, grinding it down a bit with a dremel tool might get it to fit well in the meantime.

I have a few older system 2's and they have normal phillips screws.

Same type as on my Battenkill 8/9 reel. I cant figure out what to use to remove them. I have a new one  on the way.
