If you are only going to be there for a day or two, I would strongly urge you to take a guide if you want to get on fish. There is a lot of water up in that area and unless you have an idea where the fish are holding, your chances of success are small. Rob is correct, the fish hold in only a small portion of the water.
Look at temperatures and flows. Also, consider when the last rain moved through the area. There are quite a few good books on fishing the Great Lakes area.
If you are interested in a guide, I would strongly recommend Greg Senyo's Steelhead alley outfitters and the guys at Chagrin River fly shop. Those guys are on the water and know where the fish hold and what they prefer. If you are not going to take a guide, stop in to Chagrin River fly shop, buy some flys and ask questions.
