I grew up there as well. I prefer Cattaraugus creek. It's a bit further drive but the fishing access is great on the Seneca Indian reservation. Because the land is is owned by the Seneca Nation, it is not posted and is very accesable. There is 12 or 14 miles of river that fall within the reservation. You can by a licence on the the reservation and there is no need for a New York State license. I bought my license at the gas station located on the corner of RT20 and 438 on the Reservation. If you call the Orvis shop in Williamsville they will give you an up to date report. Here are a couple of links that may help:
