So I managed to slip away for a couple hours this morning and tried my luck at Little Hunting Creek near Mt. Vernon. I took out my float tube and fished the inside of the creek from about 8AM to 10AM. While the fishing was really slow except for some gar splashing around, it looks like a killer spot and one that I will be back to either earlier in the morning/late afternoon or once the water cools a bit. The highlight of the day, other than a missed strike, was coming upon a floating dead snakehead that must have weighed 12 - 15 pounds. It had been tagged by biologists, so I took the tag and plan to call it in to the hotline to see what they have to say about that fish...
