I got my first striper this morning! It's nothing to brag about but I'll take it. I also caught a long skinny creature on the same orange/white clouser. Anyone know what it's called?
The most exciting thing happened when I first got there. I was casting by the wall of the outflow and something in the water beneath me caught my eye. I almost dismissed it because it was just a pale shadow that blended in with the fast moving whitewater. But as it moved in a bit closer it became apparent that it was a fish the length of my leg! It hovered at the edge of the water for a minute and could clearly make out a snout--I'm pretty sure it was a sturgeon. I didn't have my camera on me, unfortunately, and I didn't want to run over to my bag and lose sight of it.
It all made for a beautiful morning at Gravelly!
