{Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} Re: Little/Middle Patuxent Report

I've had good luck on caddis imitations at the Savage Mill area.

First of all a big thanks to those who volunteered their time and instruction at the last casting church.

Since then I have been in search of beginner friendly spots (within 30-45 minutes of DC) with the best success being around Savage Mill where the Little/Middle Patuxent meet. I am not sure where exactly they do it, but both of those streams are listed as recently stocked by MD. Water levels are relatively low and it is still bearable for wet wading. Even considering that I am probably scaring most of the fish with sloppy casts and poor fly choices I have been able to get brown trout and fall fish on dry flies. The trout have been breaking the surface all week, especially near the fast flowing sections (though I can't figure out what they're eating). This is still a good spot for other beginners, though it is very pressured by folks with spinning rods.

This weekend I am free to drive further from DC out in the general direction of Silver Spring - any recommendations are welcome.
