I was out there from 7 this morning too and caught a nice smallmouth early in the day on a gold/copper Kreelex, but left by 11:30 when it was getting hot. Water is still just a tad high to get across to the islands and main channel from the VA side.

I live in DC and have 3 licenses!Hit Riverbend this morning. I got there around 7 but probably should have been there by around 5. It got warm and bright FAST. I think it would have been easier in darker conditions. I managed a few sunfish but no bass. I did see a real beast but I wasn't able to entice it. The river can get bath water warm. Sometimes a little freaky when you're wet wading!
There were a lot of folks out enjoying a gorgeous morning. It's all good when you're out on the water!
