Headed to AK on a last minute RV trip w/family. We will be traveling around the Kenai from Aug 2nd-11th. Planning to do an all-day drift with Troutfitters on the Upper/Middle Kenai for rainbow and dolly varden. Might plan to do a hike-in with them as well on the Russian River or Quarts Creek for salmon. The rest of time I will likely self-guide. Any advice on roadside angling, self-guiding this area, or any other thoughts would be beneficial.
Also, looking for recommendations for 7/8 fly reel under $100 w/ solid drag to go with a 7 wt. rod I borrowed from my father-in-law. Wish I had more $ to invest but that's just where I'm at. Have been looking at Lamson Liquid 3.5, Ross Eddy and Redington Behemoth. Would appreciate any advice!
