Did anyone make it to the Snakehead derby at Pennyfield lock?
Seems like they were pulling out a lot more bass than Snakehead, but there were some big ones up there.Carl

My father has been talking for years about how he has wanted to go fishing for snakehead. I wanted to buy him a new rod and equipment for a snakehead trip. Any recommendations?--

It's starting to warm up, and I know I'm not the only one who wants to catch one of these guys this summer.I'll start with a not-so-successful outing. Hit the tidal basin after work yesterday from about 6 to 7, and there were several large snakeheads coming up to the surface sporadically to "sip" air, and sometimes with a bit more of a splash. I went through my box trying to entice one to bite, trying clousers, gurglers, poppers, a magnum streamer, and even a huge pike bunny. I've heard snakeheads are vicious, but couldn't get any of them to react. I even hit one right on the nose with the pike bunny, and it just turned away and went back under.Do folks find there are times when snakeheads just aren't interested in eating? When you've had success, has it been sight casting, or has the snakehead just happened across your fly?
