I usually go by the Point of Rocks gage. Yeah, I know that's pretty far downstream, but it works for me. From my experience if P of R gage is 1.75 or lower that's safest, 2-2.5 is at the upper limit of safe, 4.0 and above? I'd stay out of the water.

Hey all,Some time in the next week or two I'm planning fish the Upper Potomac for Walleye, Just below dam Dam # 4. Does anyone know what river gage and water level I should be looking at before heading out ? The last thing I want to do is get up there and have the river too high and discolored to fish. Thanks in advanceVladimir ( Vo )
