The annual Project Healing Waters Fly Tying Marathon is this Saturday, March 19 from 12 Noon - 4PM at Port City Brewing in Alexandria, VA. Wray Sinclair started this tradition five years ago in a church, and of course TPFR moved the event to not only a bar but a brewery. This is an awesome event for a great cause, see the video that TPFR MattT made last year.
All flies tied will be donated to the local Project Healing Waters clubs and used by our wounded veterans. Tiers may tie and donate anything they'd like, but the vast majority of PHW events and fishing days are done on trout streams or warm water locations, so flies tied with this in mind are preferred. Try to stick with relatively larger patterns that are easy to see and attach to tippet. Examples would be:
