{Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} Re: Rod / Reel Advice

Never fished the water you note, but in the last few years many companies have begun producing trouters (e.g. 10' - 11' 3, 4 and 5wt rods).  Bob Meiser sells everything from a 10'6 3/4wt (which I have and is a blast to cast) to a 12'6 3-5wt on the lower end of grain weight.  Also, Winston came out with micro spey (10'6 3wt, 11' 4wt and 11'6 5wt) last year I think.  

The smallest Beulah goes is 10' 5wt on their Platinum switch if memory serves.

Most of these rods would work for decent sized trout as well as bass, bluegills, etc. on up to fish in the 6-8lb range.

For mid-priced two handers that offer great value, I like the Echo TR line and the Beulah Platinum series.  Believe both make rods in the 11-12 foot and 4-5 weight range.  If you want to drop some cash you could get a meiser.  All depends on your budget.
