{Tidal Potomac Fly Rodders} Re: Rod / Reel Advice

I have never fished the patuxent, but if I was looking for a two handed rod for inland fishing, I would look at something like in the 4 or 5 weight range, probably something in 11 or 11 and a half feet.  I believe some companies are even producing 3 wt two handers.  Depends on where you would fish it.  Other than maybe the north branch of the potomac, I am struggling to think of somewhere in the virgina/md area where a two hander would really be practical for trout fishing.

For mid-priced two handers that offer great value, I like the Echo TR line and the Beulah Platinum series.  Believe both make rods in the 11-12 foot and 4-5 weight range.  If you want to drop some cash you could get a meiser.  All depends on your budget.

Looking into getting a two-handed fly rod. Tend to fish most often on the Patuxent River, but would ideally like something that could be rigged to work on trout streams inland. Can anyone recommend what weight rod would be best, or any particular brands/models they happen to like? Total novice, grateful for the help!
